Events App Overview

The Industry Weapon Events App offers an easy to use interface allowing quick and easy creation of customized digital signage content based on events pulled in from a variety of applications and services. This article will help you get started adding your event’s into the Event’s App in CommandCenterHD.

To utilize the Events App, first select the source from which your event data can be pulled. You may choose from Excel, iCal, or Exchange. After this, you can publish your events via a new slide. For further information or troubleshooting, please utilize our free training services or our 24/7, free technical support.

Installing the Events App

  1. On your CommandCenterHD Dashboard click on the Apps section on your navigation bar.

2. You can search for or scroll through the Store to find Events App, click on the App.

3. On the next page click on the Activate button.

  • Note: if you are not the Administrator for CommandCenterHD, you will see a “Request Install” which will be sent to your company’s Administrator for installation.

4. Once the app is installed, it will display in the Apps section under My Apps in CommandCenterHD.

Creating an Events App Slide

  1. If this is your first time creating an Events App slide, you will be presented with the below screen:

2. Click on the Create a Slide button.

3. Choose a template design.

Once in the event slide editor, you’ll see the below options:

  1. Data Source
    Select a source from the drop-down. *Please refer to the corresponding sections of this article for how to setup your selected source.
  2. Slide Title
    Add the title to be displayed on the slide.
  3. Day Limit
    Select your desired day limit.
  4. Colors
    Set up your desired colors and transparencies.
  5. Add a Background image and Logo.

4. Once you have entered all of the required information click on the Create & Publish button.

5. You will be presented with the below Publish Successful message:

  • Click on the Edit This Slide button to return to the event editor to make any additional changes to this event slide.
  • Click on the Back To Slides List button to be taken to a listing of all of your Events App content.
    Any new event slide will be shown as processing, once it has completed you will see a preview of your event slide.

Adding an Events Slide into a Campaign

  1. In the CampaignsHD section of CommandCenterHD, click on the edit button for the campaign that you would like to display your Events App content.
  2. Click the app button on the slide toolbar.

3. Choose the Events App content you would like to add, and then drag and drop your asset onto the slide. If no content appears in this list, please first follow the steps in the above section Creating an Events App Slide.

4. The Event content will appear on the slide. Drag the Event content to where you would like it on the slide. You can double-click on the Event content to make it fullscreen, by check marking the fullscreen box.

5. After making your adjustments to the App, click on Apply and then Save at the bottom right of the slide editor.

Data Source Setup

  • You can start adding an event data source in two ways:
    • Click on the icon   on the dashboard of the Events App.
    • When creating a new Event template you can add your event source data under the Data Source section.
  • In this popup box, click on the Add New Source text to add a new menu data source. You can also search through your existing sources and edit or delete them using this popup box.

  • You can now follow the related section below that fit the event data you would like to utilize in the Events App.

Excel Data Source Setup

  1. Choose a Source Name for the feed.
  2. Click on the Download the starter file link provided to download a pre-formatted Excel file.

3. Fill the spreadsheet with information from the events you would like to appear on your slides.

4. Upload the completed file.

5. Click Create Source.

iCal Data Source Setup

  1. Choose a Source Name for the feed.
  2. For Google:
    1. From your computer, open Google Calendar.
    2. In the top right, click Settings
    3. Open the Calendars tab.
    4. Select the name of the calendar you want to use.
    5. In the Private Address section, click ICAL.
    6. Copy the ICAL link that appears in the window, or click the ICAL link to download an ICS file.
  3. Paste the URL into the iCal Feed URL field.
  4. Click Create Source.

Exchange Data Source Setup

Fill in the fields with the proper information outlined below:

  1. Choose a Source Name for the feed.
  2. Username and Password – Enter the credentials for a service account that has access to the mailboxes that you would want to publish.
    (This can be your individual credentials if they have the correct permissions.)
  3. Email – Enter the email of the mailbox you would like to pull from.
  4. Folder ID – This is an optional field to be used if the calendar is housed in a public folder and not your normal calendar.
  5. Folder ChangeKey – This is an optional field to be used if a calendar is the calendar is housed in a public folder and not your normal calendar.
  6. EWS Exchange File (Exchange.asmx) – Enter the link to your Exchange.asmx file.

*If the exchange is internally hosted, it will be somewhere on your network:
